Woman Injured In New Hampshire Snowmobile Crash

A snowmobiler from Maine was injured Saturday when she crashed into a large rock in Dixville, New Hampshire.

According to New Hampshire Fish and Game officials, Alina Nickerson,19, of Gorham, Maine, was operating a snowmobile as part of a group of four on Primary Trail 134 in Dixville shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 28.

While operating on the trail, Nickerson reportedly failed to navigate a downhill righthand turn and traveled to the outside of the turn. Once off the side of the trail, she struck a large rock and sustained injuries during the impact.

Nickerson’s riding companions were immediately aware of the crash and rendered aid. A 911 call was made from the scene and a response from Colebrook Fire Department, 45th Parallel EMS and Conservation Officer’s began.

Rescue personnel responded to the crash scene via Colebrook Fire Department’s tracked ARGO and tracked ATV. Nickerson was subsequently transported by the tracked ARGO to an awaiting 45th Parallel EMS Ambulance that transported her to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

This crash is still under investigation, however officials said unreasonable speed for the existing conditions appears to be a factor in the crash.

Nickerson reportedly mentioned significant snow dust from the snowmobiles she was following.
